BLINK bmobile Donates 15 Netbooks to Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross

Port of Spain - Recent events in Japan and other parts of the world re-enforce the need to prepare for possible disaster. It is with this in mind that Trinidad and Tobago's leading telecoms provider BLINK bmobile recently donated 15 HP netbooks to the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross. The donation is part of BLINK bmobile's capacity-building efforts to assist the local Red Cross in its disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. According to Jennifer Gonzalez, director general of the TT Red Cross, "We are truly grateful for this contribution to our work. This donation will assist the local Red Cross to do important field work in vulnerable communities. They will be used during training programmes to do important presentations and timely reports." Trudy de Verteuil, TSTT's manager of Corporate and Community Affairs explained, "We understand how important it is for organisations like the Red Cross to have the technology they need to function effectively. We are working with such organisations to build their technological capacity, thus making them more effective." The Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society is a non-profit humanitarian organisation that focuses its resources on providing communities with disaster preparedness and quality health programmes designed to empower the most vulnerable in our society. The Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society was founded on July 12th, 1939 as a branch of the British Red Cross and became independent of the British Red Cross on May 31st, 1963. There are three branches situated in Port-of-Spain, San Fernando and Scarborough, Tobago.
