bmobile sends ‘cool customer’ to Korea for U-17 World Cup

Customs officer Lawrence Sheppard says he was as “cool as a cucumber” when he got the call from bmobile on Monday [August 13] that he had won an all expenses paid trip to the Under-17 World Cup in Korea.

As the champion of bmobile’s ’D Brain Tackler competition, Sheppard had just won return airfare for two, hotel accommodation, tickets to the Round One T&T games and a sightseeing tour, among other things – but at first he thought it was a prank call. Reassured that it was for real, Sheppard maintained his cool disposition: “Doh make joke!” After that, he started to view the prize as a belated birthday present, having celebrated his 31st just two days earlier.

He was presented with his prize yesterday [August 15] by TSTT Chief Marketing Officer, William Powell, and Rhonda-Lee Yhapp, Manager Events & Sponsorship.

Sheppard likes sports in general but admits: “Football is my first love.” He is looking forward to seeing T&T play in its first Under-17 World Cup and is grateful to bmobile for making his trip to Korea possible.

Powell explained that Sheppard was one of over 12,000 bmobile customers who had tackled football questions via text message or phone call to get a chance to be in the random draw for the grand prize. After congratulating Sheppard, Powell hailed the overwhelming response by bmobile customers to ’D Brain Tackler competition. “We are happy to be able to share another historic football experience with our valued customers,” he stated.

In adding her congratulations, Yhapp assured: “TSTT remains committed to the development of football in T&T, especially among the youth.”

Yhapp and Powell extended best wishes to the Under-17 team, which begins its World Cup quest on Monday [August 20].
