Class in session at Beyoncé concert

Trinidad - TSTT is providing the chance of a lifetime for a budding event management professional to ‘go to school’ at the upcoming Beyoncé concert.

Khadija Glasgow, a student of UWI St Augustine's Department of Creative and Festival Arts, is working with well-known event coordinator Sean Burkett at the concert scheduled for February 18. The 23-year-old student, a double major in Theatre arts and Carnival/Festival management and a coordinator in the Carnival Studies Unit, is ecstatic at the opportunity to work at such a major event.

“I am a huge fan of Beyoncé and the chance to be part of the team that is working to coordinate this unique event is just a dream come true,” said Khadija.

She was especially happy about the exposure she was getting in managing a large-scale event and seeing top local and international practitioners in the field.

"I love event coordinating and my goal is to be heavily involved in it as a career on the national level," explained Khadija.

A member of UWI's close-knit Carnival Studies Unit, Khadija has been involved in coordinating festivals for three years and is already developing a reputation for herself. TSTT facilitated her inclusion in the production as a means to boost the capacity of local event planning professionals.

“Beyonce’s ‘I Am...’ concert was at one time ranked Billboard magazine’s number one concert attraction in the world and TSTT is bringing the full grandeur of that experience to Trinidad. It is an unprecedented event and a matchless opportunity for a young professional like Khadija” said Graeme Suite, TSTT's Manager of Media Relations and Corporate Communications.

“By exposing Khadija to a concert of this size and scope, with this much international input, we know she will use what she has learned for her own development and implement it for the benefit of cultural events," he added.
