Heritage Festival 2007

July 2007

TSTT is celebrating a milestone as a main sponsor of the Tobago Heritage festival for the past 18 years. The island’s biggest annual cultural event officially kicks off tonight (Friday July 13th) at the Dwight Yorke Stadium where TSTT and the THA will host the gala Opening Night. This year the festival has been organized under the theme “Ancestral Joys Proclaimed” and guests at the Opening Night will be treated to lively performances that participating villages will host over the next two weeks.

TSTT is proud to continue its long tradition of support for Tobago’s cultural and development goals. This year, in addition to being a main sponsor of the Opening Night, TSTT is again throwing its support behind Mason Hall village and their presentation of “Games we used to play” on July 22nd. This production features an exciting mix of past and present local games and gives spectators the opportunity to participate in some of the events. The day starts off with a mini-marathon from 5:00 AM while the main event gets going from 1:30 PM at the Mason Hall Recreation Grounds.

After Mason Hall, TSTT joins with the Heritage Festival Committee to give the public a treat on the Scarborough Esplanade with “Pan Folkarama” on Monday July 30th. The show starts at 8:00 PM and will feature performances of indigenous folk songs by several steelbands. This is the second year TSTT has sponsored this event and judging by last year’s large and appreciative audience, the organizers are expecting an even greater showing on the night.
