PlayAble Caribbean 2018 recipient of Bmobile Charily Golf Tournament

PlayAble Caribbean was selected as the 2018 recipient of Bmobile's 5th Annual Enterprise Invitational Charity Golf Tournament held on January 19th at the St Andrew's Golf Course, Maraval.  

This annual charity golf tournament is recognized as Trinidad and Tobago’s premiere corporate golf tournament that brings bmobile’s corporate clients with noted celebrities and personalities for a fun day of golf. This year’s participants included Sports Legends Brian Lara and Russell Latapy and radio personality Kwesi Hopkinson.

Each year, the funds raised from the sponsorship and participation of are donated to a different organization to assist with their charitable work. Among those in attendance to witness the handover were Sports Legends Brian Lara and Russell Latapy, who also took part in the annual Invitational Charity Golf Tournament. 

This year's winning team of Gerry Cooper, Radesh Basant, Stephen George and Takoor Ramnath won free entry and airfare to the 14th Annual Scarborough Cup carded for 23rd to 25th February 2018, sponsored by Caribbean Swing Promotions and Haygem Tours and Travel.  Other Bmobile Enterprise Invitational Charity Golf Tournament sponsors included Yello Media Group, Huawei Technologies Trinidad and Tobago Limited, Superb Caterers Limited, Coffee Express Limited, Angostura Limited, RS Audio and RASH Appliances, Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort and Blue Waters Products Limited.

Mr. Rakesh Goswami, EVP, Strategic Alliance Enterprise and Tobago Operations, TSTT thanked all the sponsors and players for their continued support of the important annual fundraising initiative, stating that the tournament participants were some of Bmobile's most loyal customers.  "We cannot do this without you and I promise that Bmobile will always be here providing you with the best-in-class technology services and solutions." 

Dr. Walcott, Chief Executive Officer, TSTT in his speech at the prize giving ceremony noted the critical correlation between ICT development, the national development and diversification of an economy like Trinidad and Tobago’s and added "Bmobile's primary mandate is to transform into an agile broadband communications company. We are committed to being the national technology leader and to helping move the company and the nation forward by continuing to deliver state-of-the-art communication solutions and services that will enrich the lives of citizens, businesses and visitors in both Trinidad and Tobago." 

Mr. Rolph Young, Snr. Manager Enterprise Marketing presented the cheque from the funds raised to PlayAble Caribbean’s Directors, Atiba Antoine and Francine Look Hong, during the prize-giving ceremony which followed the day of golf. 

Antoine and Look Hong thanked Bmobile, the sponsors and participating players for their confidence in PlayAble Caribbean which is a non-profit social venture created to help raise awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities.  The NGO uses adapted sports programs and coach training to help local and regional schools and sporting organizations bring persons with disabilities off the sidelines and actively participating in sports.  Look Hong said she was particularly thrilled at the donation because it was the timely and perfect intervention needed to cover the continuing cost of their programme across Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean.  Antoine expanded "This donation means that the previous work we did with local schools in collaboration with Bmobile has really helped push the message of inclusion for all.  The money received today will be used to purchase equipment and fund workshops planned for several primary and secondary schools across the nation and in Aruba."

Keith Rowley, General Manager of the Yello Media Group the tournament’s Platinum sponsor, expressed his delight at the success of the event.  "Just like Bmobile, we take our corporate social responsibility very seriously.  We are proud to support this excellent initiative which contributes towards the advancement and development of others in our society.  This is our 1st year as a sponsor and we are firmly of the belief that it was a good decision to become involved in this noble venture."
