Reflecting Our Heritage through Technology

Customer Cheryl Ann Providence of Idle Wild Tobago is presented with a welcome gift by TSTT rep Leonisa Jones at opening night of Tobago Heritage Festival where TSTT has been a sponsor for almost 25 years

In 2013 the Tobago Heritage Festival celebrates its 26th Anniversary as the premier event on the Tobago cultural calendar and while the event has seen many changes and developments one consistent partner for the festival has been telecommunications provider, Blink/Bmobile.

For over 24years Blink/Bmobile through its parent company TSTT has been the primary sponsor of the Opening Night of the Festival. In this recent past the company has also partnered with the villages of Mason Hall, Pembroke, SWUM and Mt. Pleasant to create memorable experiences for the thousands of visitors attending the shows each year.

This year the festival has chosen as its theme Community Treasures - Reflections. It is a theme that the organizers believe “defines the pathway of reflecting and showcasing the indigenous aspect of what makes The Tobago Heritage a unique cultural artform”

This sentiment was clearly demonstrated in the Opening Night gala which showcased a large cross section of performers from the various communities as well as excerpts from some of the productions that patrons can expect to see in the coming weeks.

According to Mrs. Onica Blackman, Manager Enterprise, Marketing and Communications at TSTT’s Tobago Operation,  Blink/Bmobile was very proud to be a part of this year’s show “ Every year we look forward not only to the Opening Night but to the Festival itself.  We have partnered with this festival almost since its inception and indeed see our growth and development on the island reflected in the demonstrated growth of this year’s show. Blink/Bmobile remains committed to partnering with communities in Tobago through not only provision of services but also through sustainable partnerships in community events.”

Mr. Wendell Berkley chairman of the Tobago Heritage Festival Committee in thanking Blink/Bmobile noted the importance of corporate sponsors in the development of the festival “ Corporate sponsors play an integral role in the Festival.  Their additional contribution allows the Committee to schedule more villages on the Heritage Calendar of Events thus allowing the Heritage Festival Committee the opportunity to showcase Tobago’s culture on a larger scale with greater visibility. It is this relationship as well as the partnership with the Tobago House of Assembly that helps to foster the growth of each community as members work together to create a beneficial product.”

The Tobago Heritage Festival continues until 1st August 2013.
