TSTT Announces the Appointment of a New Chief Executive Officer

TSTT’s Chairman, Samuel Martin, today announced the Board of Directors’ selection of Mr. Roberto Peón as the new Chief Executive Officer of Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, the leading telecommunications service provider in Trinidad and Tobago. Mr. Peón will assume this role from January 3, 2007.

Mr. Peón is a seasoned telecommunications executive with extensive international experience. Previous to his retirement from BellSouth in the USA, he was Chief Marketing Officer for BellSouth International from 2000 to December 2004. In this position, he led BellSouth’s growth in Latin America’s wireless communications industry by guiding the deployment of new voice and data services and applied technologies across 11 countries. In 2005 and 2006 he consulted for NEXTEL Mexico (NII) and acted as Chief Operating Officer until June 2006. From 1997 to 2000, Peón was the President of the Brazil operations for BellSouth International and CEO of the company’s cellular affiliate in that country, BCP Telecomunicações. BCP provided cellular service in metropolitan São Paulo, with a population of 18 million, and in northeastern Brazil, a region with a population of 26 million.

Prior to that, he was Vice-President - Latin America for BellSouth with responsibility for Business Development. In that capacity, Peón pioneered BellSouth’s entry into 12 cellular markets in Latin America and Israel. His telecommunications career started in 1980 in Iowa with Contel Inc. where he had extensive data communications responsibilities.

Mr. Peón holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central College in Pella, Iowa. He speaks Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French. Mr. Peón is married with three children.
