TSTT partners with United Way

In its quest to continually serve the people of Trinidad and Tobago, TSTT has forged what will hopefully be a longstanding partnership with United Way – through its inaugural employee giving campaign, which got off to a fantastic start during the Christmas season!

United Way Trinidad and Tobago (UWTT) is an umbrella non-profit organisation which raises much needed funds for various Non-Government Organisations. Started in 1993, it is modelled after United Way America which has been in existence for over 30 years.

United Way operates successfully in over 45 countries and essentially creates opportunities for both donors and volunteers to give back to communities.

TSTT, through the TSTT Foundation has always supported and encouraged employee volunteerism, one of the key principles of United Way. So it was no surprise when members of staff came out to participate in the United Way Breakfast Caravans designed to inform them about the TSTT/United Way initiative. Those who signed up will make contributions to the campaign – which will go a long way in helping the less fortunate in communities across the nation.

TSTT’s United Way Chair – Jay Alvi, VP Enterprise Services – observed that “the key to the success of the United Way within many companies is in personal giving. Many of these people have no where else to turn. Even in other countries where I have lived such as Canada and the US, the United Way provides very valuable support and aid, as they have begun to do here in T&T.”

TSTT staffers have begun their drive and donations have already been made to two homes.
