TSTT rolls out new $M fleet to tackle customer cable faults

Trinidad -

TSTT has invested in a new fleet of customized maintenance vehicles to support an aggressive repair program that will bring relief to customers affected by cable vandalism and aging copper lines. According to Cedric Cole, TSTT’s Executive Vice President - Access Infrastructure & New Business, the 13 heavy duty vehicles which are valued at over TT $7M will be deployed as part of a new phase in the company’s multi-million dollar Outside Plant modernisation and repair program.

“Last year TSTT completed repairs to over 55,000 customer lines that were affected by cable vandalism or deteriorating copper cables. In this latest phase new fibre optic and copper cables are to be aggressively deployed for the long term improvement of the network and to extend the capacity for high speed Internet access to more communities,” said Cole.

The fleet will support the company’s pole replacement, overhead line maintenance, bulk material loading and transportation needs. The vehicles were acquired from Southern Sales & Service Co. Ltd, agents for Isuzu vehicles, and consist of three (3) N-Series Light Duty Trucks and ten (10) F-Series Heavy Duty Trucks outfitted with Articulated Cranes and Digger Derricks. The vehicles were extensively customised for the safety, operating efficiency and durability required by TSTT for its nationwide program.
