TSTT Welcomes 2 New Executives and a new Head of Department

TSTT, the country’s largest integrated telecommunications provider has made two new executive and two senior management appointments to complement aggressive development plans for the company’s technologies. Chief Executive Officer Roberto Peón made the announcement, indicating that the appointments will ensure TSTT achieves the best synergy of its broadband, mobile and fixed line networks to deliver world-class services and solutions to corporate and residential customers.

The appointments include George E. Hill III to the position of Chief Technology Officer, William M. Powell Jr. as the new Chief Marketing Officer, Ronald Celestine as Head of Tobago Operations and Joseph Herde as the Head of Broadband Sales and Service.

George Hill is a former a Vice President at BELLSOUTH Corporation where he was responsible for Product Strategy and the Project Management Office. “TSTT will benefit tremendously from George’s 20-plus years as a telecommunications professional,” said CEO Peón, adding that Hill’s extensive North American and international experience will complement TSTT’s push to satisfy the cosmopolitan technology interests in Trinidad and Tobago. “While at BELLSOUTH International (BSI), George led the technology migration to next generation platforms and systems in Latin America resulting in BSI becoming the leading wireless data provider in that market. TSTT is at a similar point in its development and as Chief Technology Officer George will play a pivotal role in ensuring the company maintains its leadership in the local market.”

As Chief Marketing Officer William Powell brings over twenty-five years of marketing, sales, and customer service experience both as an independent consultant and as an executive in BELLSOUTH International. TSTT’s CEO stressed the importance of TSTT finding innovative ways of adding value to the services provided to customers and in the process build value for shareholders and stakeholders. “William’s expertise will help TSTT attain a compelling distinctiveness to its products and support TSTT in setting higher standards for customer satisfaction.”

Ronald Celestine has a wealth of operational knowledge and 28 years experience within the telecommunications field. Of his many years of dedicated service, 22 have been in various management positions and 8 of those within senior management. Joining then Telco in 1979, he rose through the ranks to his previous position as Head of Access Plant Management. He will now head the entire Tobago team, with all aspects of Tobago Operations under his charge.

Joseph Herde brings over 10 years experience in the fields of Technology Consulting and telecommunications and has worked in almost every major market in the Caribbean. Mr. Peón noted that Joe’s strong combination of business and technical skills along with his established track record in Broadband business development will help TSTT maintain a strong leadership position in the broadband market.

In welcoming Hill, Powell and Herde to TSTT and Celestine to his new post, the CEO notes that although the company only operates in the Trinidad and Tobago market, TSTT must challenge itself to achieve international performance standards for service reliability and customer satisfaction. “Blending our local know-how with global experience is a key part to continuing on the journey of becoming the kind of company our customers want us to be.”
