Vandals cut off 1,700 in La Romain

Trinidad -

Vandals struck TSTT cables in South Trinidad causing an interruption in service on approximately 1,700 phone lines in La Romaine and environs. The discovery was made earlier this morning (Friday April 11 2008) and TSTT Police Officers noted that the incident did not involve the theft of the cables only the cutting of them. TSTT’s management suspects that the perpetrators were attempting to disrupt the company’s operations.

TSTT has retained the services of contractors to expedite repairs and restore service in the shortest possible time.

The TSTT cables were cut at the corner of Peter Trace and Claude Street La Romain and the company is encouraging anyone with information about the person(s) responsible, to report this to the nearest police station or to Crime Stoppers at 800-TIPS.
