bmobile celebrates Yung Bredda: The People's Champion of Carnival 2025

TSTT Corporate Communications

Carnival 2025 was a game-changer for Akhenaton Lewis, better known as Yung Bredda. Rising from the humble community of Sea Lots, he transitioned from singing Zess to securing his place among the finest in Soca and Calypso. It’s no wonder many are calling him ‘the people’s champion.’ Throughout the long Carnival season, the entertainer captivated audiences—young and old alike—with his dynamic performances and undeniable stage presence. Signed to bmobile, the 25-year-old added some more accolades to his name, including third place in the Calypso Monarch with the fan-favorite ‘We Rise’ and runner-up in the Ultimate Soca Champion with his viral hit ‘The Greatest Bend Over,’ which topped Apple Music’s chart in Trinidad and Tobago.

Yung Bredda’s journey has not gone unnoticed. His ability to connect with audiences through music, coupled with his authenticity and undeniable charisma, led to a partnership with the national communications solutions provider, bmobile. Originally brought on as an influencer in 2022, his growth as an artiste and expansive reach saw him officially signed as a brand endorsee earlier this year.

bmobile’s Kashif Greaves, Assistant Vice President Consumer Sales, praised Yung Bredda’s journey and impact. “At bmobile, we believe in supporting local talent and uplifting voices that inspire change. Yung Bredda embodies resilience, passion, and the spirit of positivity, and we are proud to have him as part of our family. His story is one of determination and perseverance, and we hope his success encourages young people across Trinidad and Tobago to pursue their dreams despite the obstacles.”

Reflecting on his journey, the entertainer shared the blunt truth about success: “It’s a great feeling to know that staying positive brings great rewards in the end. But it comes with a lot of negativity. People always think, ‘oh, he feels he's this humble person.’ They think you feel that you're better than them. It comes with a lot of jealousy. It’s not easy being humble and positive while the world turns a negative page.”

Despite these challenges, the multi-talented artiste remains steadfast in his mission to uplift through music, especially at a time when his community has once again made headlines due to violence and crime. “I can only do what I do best,” he stated, adding that he hopes to positively impact his peers. “Talking isn’t my best—music is. It’s how I conquer the darkness. In my community, my focus is on the youths. The youth are the future. No matter what they choose to do—masonry, woodwork, whatever—I want to show them that if they believe in themselves, they can achieve their goals. There are still a lot of positive people in Sea Lots. We’re not about violence. We are focused, and I’m focused on my mission.”

Reflecting on being a named bmobile brand endorsee, Yung Bredda expressed gratitude to the telecommunications giant for its unwavering support, saying, “it’s an amazing feeling to be part of the family and brand. Growing up, I never thought I’d one day be signed to bmobile…I hope they can open their arms to even more youths who are coming up.”

Yung Bredda is a testament to the fact that music has no boundaries when delivered with passion and authenticity. And while Carnival may be over, his journey has only just begun — there's no telling how far he will go.
